PhD (2006)

Advisor:Dr. JoLaine Draugalis

My MS and PhD focused primarily on pharmaceutical education. I also worked as a community pharmacist during the time I was in graduate school. My pharmacy practice and graduate work has provided me with a unique perspective of actual practice combined with an understanding of pedagogical considerations and experience in teaching. My scholarship has included studies that were national in scope such as the longitudinal studies on experiential education in U.S. schools and colleges of pharmacy and an examination of trends and administrative mentoring in the pharmacy deanship. My dissertation work titled “The Application of Transformative Learning Theory to Curricular Evaluation” has national application for curricular evaluation as it relates to the proposed new ACPE Accreditation Standards and the use of portfolios in pharmacy education. Future areas of research include using current theories in higher education and exploring their application in pharmacy education, curricular evaluation and assessment, and the measurement of the scholarship of teaching and learning.

I am currently Director of Acadmic Affairs and Assessment at The American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy in Alexandria, VA.
